The “Abrasion Wear Friction Machine” test bench is designed to test materials for wear under abrasive wear conditions in accordance with the international standard ASTM G132 “Standard Test Method for Pin Abrasion Testing”.
Abrasive wear of materials is the most common type of wear. As a result of the cutting action of abrasive particles, intense wear occurs on the surface of the part, which often exceeds other types of wear in speed.
The TRIBOTEST-ABRAZIV test bench allows you to test materials under conditions of abrasive wear during friction against a fixed abrasive.
The stand implements one of the most common methods for testing materials under conditions of abrasive wear - rubbing the sample against abrasive paper. The drum with the abrasive paper attached rotates at a given speed, while the sample makes translational motion along the axis of the drum. The pin mold sample comes into contact with fresh abrasive, forming a spiral-shaped mark on the paper. Due to this, the correctness and repeatability of the experimental results is achieved. The sample is rotated around its own axis.
The sample is loaded using weights of a given mass.
What materials can be tested- The stand is designed for testing materials of parts operating under conditions of abrasive wear - structural steels, high-strength alloys, hardened steels, hard alloys, etc.
- The criterion for wear resistance is the weight loss of the sample. The wear resistance of the material under study is correlated with the test results of the control sample.
