Differential Scale Loop Test Bench
Differential Scale Loop DSL - a fully automated test bench for studying the process of scale formation and pipeline clogging
Application
- Investigation of deposits on the walls of pipelines, water pipes and field equipment
- Invention and testing of inhibitors
- Optimizing inhibitor concentration
- Optimization of water treatment
How the system works3 HPLC pumps are used to carry out the test. Two solutions (anion solution and cation solution) are mixed with a third liquid, which contains a given amount of inhibitor. The two brine solutions are mixed and pumped through the test line. Due to the increase in solubility, at least one salt begins to precipitate and crystallize on the walls of the pipeline. Thus, the diameter of the test pipeline is reduced.
Depending on the test conditions, a laminar oil flow is formed in the pipeline. Any laminar flow obeys the Hagen-Poiseuille law. A corollary of this law states that the change in pressure in a pipeline is inversely proportional to the value of the radius of the pipeline to the fourth power. This means that any, even slight change in the diameter of the pipeline leads to a pressure drop in the pipeline.
The DSL test bench provides the ability to measure a given pressure drop in a pipeline and, by processing the measurement data, obtain information about the beginning of the formation of salt deposits.
